
Professor Dr. George Karraz

Professor Dr. George Karraz possesses extensive academic and professional experience in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Medical Informatics, and academic accreditation according to ABET standards. He holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Pavia, Italy, and both a Bachelor’s and Postgraduate Diploma in Biomedical Engineering from Damascus University.
Dr. Karraz has held several leadership positions in Syrian universities, including Dean of the Faculty of Information Engineering at Al-Sham Private University, Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department at the Faculty of Information Technology Engineering at Damascus University, and Technical Advisor to the President of Al-Rasheed International University for Science and Technology. He also chaired the National Committee for Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, and Drug Quality under the Syrian Health Sector Development Project, supported by the World Health Organization and the European Union.
He has extensive experience in applying Artificial Intelligence in healthcare and educational settings, including developing advanced medical imaging systems, biosignal processing, building diagnostic tools based on deep learning, and designing intelligent adaptive learning systems to improve educational outcomes. His research interests also include cybersecurity, where he has developed intrusion detection systems using machine learning and neural networks and published international research on network security, resilient systems, and information defense frameworks.
Additionally, Dr. Karraz has contributed to evaluating the impact of cloud computing on higher education and developing strategies for higher education reform in Syria, combining academic expertise, strategic leadership, and technical innovation to enhance the quality of education and healthcare services.
