CEO of Midmak International Academy Participates in the First Scientific Forum for Syrian Pharmacists in Damascus

The CEO of Midmak International Academy, Dr. Dima Barakat, participated in the opening of the First Scientific Forum for Syrian Pharmacists, hosted at the National Library in Damascus, amid a prominent scientific and elite presence that reflected the growing significance of this event in supporting and developing the pharmaceutical sector at the national level.

Dr. Dima’s participation highlighted the pioneering role of Midmak International Academy in empowering scientific competencies and strengthening the system of applied education. The Academy is committed to building effective bridges between academic knowledge and labor market requirements, in alignment with the rapid transformations taking place in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

The forum was inaugurated by the President of the Syrian Pharmacists Syndicate, who emphasized the importance of enhancing the pharmacist’s role as a key partner within the healthcare system. He also stressed the need to advance the profession in line with scientific progress, and to unify efforts between academic and professional institutions to improve the reality of pharmacy practice in Syria.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research also delivered a speech addressing several key strategic priorities, most notably:

  • Developing pharmaceutical education to focus on skills development and critical thinking rather than traditional memorization.
  • Strengthening the pharmacist’s role as a central partner in healthcare and a guardian of medication safety.
  • Supporting national pharmaceutical industries to contribute to achieving drug security.
  • Updating academic curricula in line with international standards and labor market needs.
  • Expanding partnerships between universities and the healthcare and industrial sectors.

On the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Dr. Dima affirmed that Midmak International Academy’s participation stems from its deep commitment to supporting the development of pharmaceutical professionals. She noted that such forums represent a vital platform for exchanging expertise and enhancing opportunities for scientific and research collaboration. She further added that the Academy continuously works on designing advanced training programs aligned with the latest global practices, aiming to prepare professionals capable of innovation and regional and international competitiveness.

She also stressed the importance of integrating the roles of educational institutions, professional bodies, and the industrial sector, considering this integration a fundamental pillar in building a modern and sustainable pharmaceutical system capable of responding to current and future healthcare challenges.
