Prof. Dr. Eng. Omar Al Kouwatli is a distinguished architect and urban planner with more than three decades of extensive academic and professional experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning and City Planning from the Higher Institute of Architecture in Sofia, Bulgaria, and two Consultant Degrees in Architectural Design and Urban Planning.
He has led major urban and architectural projects at both national and international levels, encompassing city planning, residential and commercial developments, as well as touristic and entertainment complexes in Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Albania, and other European countries. He has also contributed to studies on the redevelopment of damaged areas and neighborhood rehabilitation, with a strong focus on sustainability and socio-urban integration, including research on the Roma population in Bulgaria.
Prof. Dr. Al-Qutli has held senior academic and administrative positions, including Vice Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Head of the Urban Planning Department at the International Arab University. He has also served as a member of committees within the International Union of Young Architects and has actively participated in specialized international conferences on architecture and urban planning across Europe and the Middle East.
He is recognized for his extensive research and teaching experience in urban planning, geographic information systems (GIS), local development, and sustainable planning, and is regarded as a key reference in the fields of urban planning and urban regeneration.
